Help with data types/categories?
Nominal data measures something that doesn't have a scale (ranging from good to bad or more to less for example, so something like eye color, race, marital status). Ordinal data has a scale, but the distance between two points is not necessarily equal to that between two other points (for example, responses like: very unlikely, unlikely, neutral somewhat likely, very likely). Ratio data has a zero point and the distance between two points is constant (for example: .5, 1, 1.5, 2, though they don't have to be numbers). Quantitative data is typically data in which optional responses are pre-determined, as opposed to Qualitative data which is more open-ended, like interviews.
